As the creative force behind Anamika Design, Mary Jean’s encouraging and artistic spirit infuses her projects and inspires confidence in her clients. She believes that successful design happens through collaboration. Carefully listening to her clients’ needs, she creates interior designs that transform spaces into beautiful, functional areas for comfortable living.

Mary Jean is versed in contemporary and traditional styles, with special expertise in fine interior finishes. Her background also encompasses the worlds of fashion, fine art and commercial design. This breadth of experience allows her to draw upon resources far and wide to find unique, enduring, fine-quality elements and incorporate them into elegant, harmonious designs that express her clients’ lifestyles.

Mary Jean received a bachelor’s degree in Art Education and studied Fine Arts at the University of Siena and advance training in Boston at the Boston School of Architecture.  She launched her career in corporate retail before moving into fashion as a stylist. She provided direction for several high-profile department stores, international design and fashion magazines, lifestyle companies and production companies. As an art director and special events designer, she designed trade shows and special events for Reebok International and other national companies. Mary Jean’s background has given her a precise eye for fine materials, color application, and the logistical expertise to successfully execute the most sophisticated interior designs, on time and on budget.

Her professional Portfolio features a variety of high-end residential, hospitality and commercial projects throughout New England.

With her artist eye for unique design and her creative flair for unexpected touches, she creates stunning visual spaces that are also highly functional.

Mary Jean moved to Newport, Rhode Island in 2017 after living outside Boston for over 20 years while raising her three children. In her spare time, she pursues her lifelong passion of fine-art painting, cycling, pilates and skiing.
